It doesn't cost anything. You're confusing copyright with trademark. As soon as you create something you are afforded copyright protection. Best way to make sure no one infringes on a copyright is to make sure it is made public or include a visible copyright on the work. If you want to register your work then yes there is a fee. You don't have to do this as long as you can prove the work is yours.

I love it. That used to be my provider. Not anymore. Comcast isn't available in central Florida where I now live. What a buffoon.

You got that right. He has got to be one of the 3 dumbest people on the planet. He thinks I host the site at my house. I used to when I was in Illinois and had a fiber to the house connection. Always hosted on real Windows servers. Not Windows XP with WAMP like he used to do. Site is now at Hivelocity on a Windows 2016 Standard Server. What a dumb ass he is.

Just to clear the record I'm 68 not 65. Born in 1952. I never had a problem with Gary. In fact I'm one of the few guys that actually liked him and tried to get along with him. Oh well life goes on.

I am not going to jump through hoops to convert the site. The importer should work no matter what platform you use. It used to work. Even xenForo supports Windows as does every other forum software. IPB is like vbulletin. They want you to buy their hosting/cloud package. Fuck IPB.

I was going to convert this site to Invision Community - Forum software, CMS, eCommerce & more - Invision Community. There was a problem with the converter. It wouldn't convert the attachments. I put in a ticket with IPB support. After back and forth I was told they don't support Windows Servers. I have been running Windows Servers for 17 years. I switched from Redhat Linux to Windows Server 2003. I never had a problem. Until today. IPB said they don't support it. Want to know the funny part of this? I used to run IPB on those Windows Servers and was successfully able to convert many of my sites as well as clients sites using the IPB official converters. Now all of a sudden they don't support Windows. So IPB you lost my business. This site was going to be the first I converted. I am going back to my clients who wanted to switch and advise them to stay with xenForo. As much as that pains me I can't recommend IPB to anyone.

Yea. I want to go with a dark style. Will leave the default as an alternative. Now I'm focusing on getting things set up as close I can to what we have here. Interesting thing is ratings and badge system is built in to IPB. It really has changed since last time I used it.

LOL> You're killing me smalls.

BASH.zone on IPB Import done.
-
The test import failed miserably. Got an error about image processor. Not going to fuck around with this too long. If the issue can't be resolved then on the xenForo 2 we go.

I am a xenforo fan. Problem is they seem to have no direction. As Sheldon said in the shoutbox it's been 2 months of staying at home and nothing new on the horizon. I have used IPB in the past. I am probably going to put up a test site so everyone can give IPB a whirl. I moved away from vbulletin years ago because of the lack of direction. Guess who was project manager back in those days. You got it. The same person that is now part owner of xenforo.

That's my plan. Have to look at some of the addons to see if they will work.

I can't speak for him, but, I think he just got tired of forums.

It's happened already. The only forums that do well now are well established communities. No matter what the "insert-software-brand " fanboys say forums are essentially dead. Anyone that says otherwise can't see the forest through the trees. I still dabble with forums because it's a hobby. If nobody joins then so be it. I do still have 1 established community that does well because it has a loyal group of users that trust the info they get from the site.

I inquired about taking over xfuniverse after he shut it down. I was told he wanted to leave sleeping dogs lie. Never did understand what was there that he didn't seem to like.

There is the rub. phpBB doesn't need any add on, but, in your infinite wisdom you probably already knew that. Glad to see you have such as vast knowledge of English grammar and it's prepositions.
