13511 Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 (edited) OMG, now you set him off, you have your own ice cream maker! #RageMeter8.5 Actually I have 2 that we bought when we first got married over 30 years ago and now also have the ones that my mother used when I was growing up. Of my mothers, one is electric (don't use it as don't know how much longer the motor will last) and the other is an actual hand cranked one. Edited July 2, 2017 by 13511 Quote
13511 Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 And Gary, just so you know, I plan on eventually getting one of these A Rickenbacker electric and possibly one of these (Takemine 12 string) - or a Martin 12 string, will have to do some more research before I decide And I wouldn't mind getting a bass guitar... again, preferably something from Rickenbacker Quote
13511 Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 (edited) Poor Gary... he STILL has reading comprehension issues. 13511 Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 Even if not, so what? The point is, I'll be able to afford them, even if I choose to use them as wall art. But it must really be nice to be a nice to be so well versed it the art of prognostication. Did that come naturally from your parent(s) or did you have to receive training for it? Quote

Paul Posted July 2, 2017 Author Posted July 2, 2017 (edited) An ex-girlfriend of mine used to say, "I may not have a lot, but what I do have is the very best". Gary is content to have shitty things as long as he has them. The shitty sneakers he just bought are a perfect example of just paying enough to get what he needs. I just paid twice as much for a pair of sandals because I wanted something with some quality in them. Only in the minds of those that belong to the race named "Feebles". The worst thing about Gary is that he actually thinks he's smarter than other people. Edited July 2, 2017 by Paul Quote
13511 Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 And that's different than your current setup that you have now in what way? It's only "utter madness" in the mind of someone that can't afford it. To someone who can, it's a purchase of something that they desire. And no Gary, it's not a dumb comment. There are plenty of people that currently buy guitars for the "art" factor of them. That's why they are called collectors. Most collect something that they find attractive. Oh, and I showed you mine (vehicle).. now let's see yours. Of course, I expect to see some title paperwork with your name on it since you are WELL known for prevarication. Quote
13511 Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 (edited) Now, let's reply to the edit that you added Yep.... like I only lasted since 1985 in my interest in computers, 1993 with my interest in BBS's (the pre-cursor of the internet forums) and their subsequent spin-offs... or since 1973 in my interest in firearms. Take another stab Gary - your prognostication ability is faltering and your historical knowledge is lacking. And the amount of time it takes is has a direct correlation to ones intelligence and the ability to pick up new information and retain it. Of course, one must have some co-ordination also to go along with that as well as some musical ability. The fact that I self-taught basic piano/keyboard, drums and can still hit some on a trumpet means nothing. And that still is besides the point... even if I don't I can hang them up in my "fun" room. Really pisses you off that folks can buy shit just because they want it but don't need it nor may not use it to it's fullest potential huh? And honestly.. if I could have afforded it earlier I would have.. but it's rather expensive putting a child through college (think the total bill once all said and done is going to be around $53,000)... of course, I'm sure you know all about that. Also during that time we provided new vehicles every 4 years to the youngster also. As I've said, it's nice to have money and to be able to do stuff that you want to. Now that is done with Momma and I can afford OUR toys. Edited July 2, 2017 by 13511 Quote
13511 Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 Sorry.. hit the big 50 a few years ago.. was just another year. Really like to get into new challenges (been that way most of my life - it's why I know a little about a lot), and odds are the guitar is one that will last me a few years... and then yes, it will progress to another challenge. When we quit accepting challenges in our lives we may as well roll over and let death overtake us. Quote

13511 Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 I've got one more Martin that I'll probably get when the account gets rebuilt. Martin 000-15SM Full mahogany guitar and it has definite difference on the sound due to being all mahogany... not to mention it's quite a looker in a plain understated way. Paul Posted July 2, 2017 Author Posted July 2, 2017 My guitar buying list is as follows: An American made Fender Strat, a Gibson SG, a Gibson Les Paul, an acoustic/electric Taylor (not sure which one yet) and maybe a Gretsch. If PRS made an affordable left-handed guitar, I would buy one of them. We're spending a boat load of money on a three week vacation to Europe (which I should be packing for right now) so it will be a little while before I buy another guitar. I've only been playing for about a month, Gary. Quote
13511 Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 We're spending a boat load of money on a three week vacation to Europe (which I should be packing for right now) so it will be a little while before I buy another guitar. That's one thing... the wife and I aren't big into vacations (long ones). We typically take day trips or a weekend trip to go somewhere. Part of that is due to our fur babies. We won't put them in a kennel (they are as much a part of the family as our kids are) and don't like to ask others to come take care of them at the house for us. So every other year she'll take a 7-10 days to go out and visit her cousin in California and I stay here and take care of the brats. Then if I want to take a trip (used to be on the bike but would now be in the convertible) I do. I usually don't go anywhere as stuff around the house keeps me busy and then helping some of the local clinics and charities.. By not taking vacations like some do it does give us more "blow" money. 13511 Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 I do know, however, that Gary is raging hard. It must really chap him that he's a lame broke ass individual. I can't play guitars and don't want to. I can't currently but would like to and plan on being able to. But maybe I'll just get some walnut board and nail the guitars to them and glue it to the walls at the house. :imp: Quote
13511 Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 Nope, but they do have plenty of money to buy honey guitars instead of waiting on the governments cheesy handout guitars. Quote
Sandyman Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 Wow, Gary is raging...can you guys stahp it!!!! Cars, vacations, expensive guitars, licensed forum software, wives, kids, family, money, job, friends...everything Gary doesn't have. You guys are gonna make his head explode! Gary has one thing you guys don't though! He has a FREE WoT game with his $4.99 quarterly premium membership, beat that! Urg!! Quote Donald Trump is living RENT FREE in Tracy Perry/One-Up's head

That's awesome @Paul! Where you guys headed? I've been on a ton of vacations, but none out of the US yet....wife doesn't want to leave the country. Post some pics while you are on vaca, would love to see them! Plus, it'll make Gary rage hard to see you enjoying yourself with your wife, spending money, having fun/good time, while he sits in front of his TRS 80 computer with his WalMart hi-tech sneaker's on. 13511 Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 Oh, there are plenty of things I "could" have bought... but are any of them something I'm interested in is the question. And the answer to that is ----- Most likely not. Only other things I'm kind of interested in is astrophotography and there's not really any "safe" places to do much of that any more. The Davis Mountains used to be really good (that's why the McDonald Observatory is out there) but now you get a lot of coyote traffic coming in from the south. There is not as much dark sky available as there used to be. Maybe I could have bought some custom/premium WOT tanks? Quote

We'll be visiting my wife's family in Romania. I bought some sandals today to walk around the beaches at the Black Sea that cost twice as much as Gary's hi-tech sneakers. There are so many awesome places to visit in the US. I think next year we might visit my sister in California and check out Yosemite and the San Francisco area while we're there. Quote
Paul Posted July 2, 2017 Author Posted July 2, 2017 Only other things I'm kind of interested in is astrophotography... We share another interest. I haven't bought any equipment for it yet though. I have about $10K invested in other photography equipment There's some pretty good info on astrophotography here fredmiranda.com: Specialized in Canon - Nikon SLR Cameras, Forum, Photoshop Plugins, Actions, Reviews, Hosting and Digital Darkroom See the fun things you can do if you don't sit on your ass all day, Gary? Yosemite is nice.. and if you haven't been to the Sequoia National Forest stop in there also. And Napa Valley and take a few winery tours. Also if you go to SF, be SURE to spend some time down around Fishermans Wharf. The cities in CA aren't my cup of tea (or most of the large ones aren't)... but there IS some pretty country out there. 13511 Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 We share another interest. I haven't bought any equipment for it yet though. I have about $10K invested in other photography equipment :p Well, with Tanya getting interested in photography, if she really takes to it there will some higher end equipment purchased for her to use. After her TBI she's had difficulty sticking with any hobby for very long so I've kind of phased back on jumping in with both feet when she starts a new one. She was going to do drawing but wanted to do it on computers... so a new iPad Pro, a new desktop and a digitizer to go with it... and that lasted about 1 1/2 months. Still have the iPad Pro and the new desktop but gave the digitizer to a family friend. If she sticks with the photography I'll grab some stuff that can be used for astro work also and then probably grab a Cassegrain in the 10"-12" range. Quote
