GTB violates copyrights of phpbb addons

Gary pisses off the mchat developer from phpbb.

 

Developer says to never ask support from him again and to restore the copyright notices that Gary removed from the add-on.

 

Poor developer, they probably aren't aware of the lies and trouble that Gary causes them.

Gary says in his chat that rules don't apply to him. Copyright notices make his hot site look bad.

 

I might add the MCHAT copyright in Footer area with the phpbb.com one later. I should do that much at least, so will do later on. Didn't like seeing it displayed in shoutbox itself, looked really stupid being displayed there and spoils the whole look of it!

Yea, because it is his site only, he doesn't need to leave the copyright notice? No wonder howie allowed him back on TAZ, fits right in.

Gary, GTB, Gary Thomas Bolton steals mchat from the phpbb opensource eco system, makes some minor changes, puts his own copyright on it, and claims it as his own? He doesn't even give credit back to the original author?

 

Gary Thomas Bolton just stole the mchat source code, changed colors or copyright, and thinks that is ok?

 

Now it makes sense why Howard removed his ban on TAZ, since TAZ is ok with this sort of behavior and actually condones it. Wonder how the XenForo guys feel about Howard letting a bunch of software pirates/thieves hang out on his site.

As an update, Gary tries to half-ass his way to being license compliant by adding a link about his "custom" "SHOUTBOX" addon to the real addon, mChat, in his footer.

 

But yet he still thinks he can be non-compliant by replacing the copyright of the addon with his own in the code, as Scrotnig points out above.

Is there a facility in XenForo that's like the Replacement Variable thing in vB? We could change all references to 'Gary' and GTB' to 'The Thief' until he relents.

Why is everyone so surprised that Gary stole something? It's what he does. He steals topics, downloads movies from torrent sites and uses a pirated version of CS5 (the latter two he should be arrested for)... it's just in his nature to steal.

Amusing that he's trying to claim he isn't a thief because mchat is GPL.

 

GPL means you can modify and redistribute it. It doesn't mean you can remove all reference to the actual author and claim you wrote the whole thing, which is what gary is doing.

 

And what exactly has he changed anyhow? Wrapping the shouts in a conditional that stops them displaying to guests? Big deal.

 

He is a thief.

Crazy right? I made some css color changes, made the copyright notice mine, removed original author, and now tells original author you can have my css changes.

Gary has been enjoying his fame as a consistent thief. Going so far as to changing his name to Blackbeard on his forum, and correctly identifying himself as "The Thief" on TAZ.
