I've taken over a new forum community but need some help on what steps to do first.

The previous owner had no experience with forum organizing or seo. The community more so died because its never really been updated or optimized.

I now need to do a few things to get it back into gear.

-migrate forums to xenforo for better engagement / restyle theme

-reorganize forums for simplicity, there are over 25 non active forums and its way too complicated

-prune old threads with very low view count and value

-invite old members back as well as get the current moderator team to engage once again.

If i went gungho and made all the changes im not sure how the current moderating team would respond to that. Technically i haven't announced theres a new forum owner yet.

Would love to get some outside perspective.

I am looking to move away from xenforo as I am not happy with it anymore. vb 5 is out of the question, so Im left with Ipb. Is it any good? Or is there another paid or free forum worth checking out?

I just did the update and have an outdated template now that can't be automatically merged. It's so much easier to install and update things with WoltLab.
