13511 Posted June 19, 2022 Posted June 19, 2022 One of the better versions of this I've heard. What's neat is how much bass they are getting from the acoustic bass guitar. 1 Quote
Paul Posted June 24, 2022 Posted June 24, 2022 Steely Dan played in Syracuse, NY last night and there were a lot of tickets left over. I would have gone to see them if Walter Becker was still alive. It’s kind of sad to see some old bands still trying to hang on. Quote
SneakyDave Posted June 24, 2022 Author Posted June 24, 2022 The Doors' "Peace Frog" , renamed from a Morrison poem called "Abortion Stories" There's blood in the streets, it's up to my ankles, There's blood on the streets, it's up to my knee. Blood on the streets in the town of Chicago, Blood on the rise, it's following me. She came and then she drove away, Sunlight in her hair. Blood in the streets runs a river of sadness Blood in the streets, it's up to my thigh. The river runs down the legs of the city The women are crying rivers of weeping. She came and then she drove away, Sunlight in her hair. Indians scattered on a dawn's highway bleeding, ghosts clawed the young child's fragile eggshell mind. Blood in the streets of the town of New Haven, Blood stains the roofs and the palm trees of Venice. Blood in my love in the terrible summer, bloody red sun of Fantastic L.A. Blood will be born in the birth of a nation. Blood is the rose of mysterious union. Blood in the streets, it's up to my ankles, Blood on the streets, it'up to my knee. Blood on the streets in the town of Chicago, Blood on the rise, it's following me 1 Quote "I wonder if wife Susie knows about the vile crap he posts on his site and how it fits in with her "youth ministry"?" - Dr. Howard Rosenzweig, former owner of TheAdminZone
Paul Posted June 25, 2022 Posted June 25, 2022 Damn, I love “Peace Frog”, I didn’t know it was about abortion. I’ll never be able to listen to it the same way again. Quote
Paul Posted June 26, 2022 Posted June 26, 2022 An underrated song. I remember watching the video on MTV when they played music videos. 1 Quote

Paul Posted July 8, 2022 Posted July 8, 2022 RIP Sonny (James Caan). The Godfather is my favorite movie, I can't remember how many times I have watched it. If you watch closely in this clip, one of Sonny's punches misses Carlo by at least a foot but his head still goes back, lol. 1 Quote

13511 Posted August 6, 2022 Posted August 6, 2022 (edited) What's so funny was back when he was getting started most people didn't realize his race. Charlie was a real down to earth guy. I remember shortly after moving up to Dallas my wife and I were eating with her parents at a local Chinese food place near Preston Hollow and he was in there. Stopped by his table just to introduce myself and say how much I loved his music and the fond memories from camping on the river and listening to WBAP 820 and hearing his music come on and we'd all join in singing. Also told him that my MIL was a BIG fan of his but was too embarrassed to stop by his table. He stopped by our table on the way out and introduced himself to her and my FIL and talked for a few minutes and then left.... and my MIL talked about that for weeks afterwards. SneakyDave Posted August 6, 2022 Author Posted August 6, 2022 Charlie was still touring up until he died a couple a years ago. I've seen him advertised at a few Indian casinos. Never got to see him, but I heard a lot of his music growing up. 1 Quote "I wonder if wife Susie knows about the vile crap he posts on his site and how it fits in with her "youth ministry"?" - Dr. Howard Rosenzweig, former owner of TheAdminZone
SneakyDave Posted August 19, 2022 Author Posted August 19, 2022 This might be a duplicate I posted about, we've been doing this thread a while, lol. David Lowery of Camper Van Beethoven and Cracker is an unappreciated master if you ask me. I watched "The Offer" on Paramount + and thought it was a pretty good series. Makes you want to watch the Godfather movies again. Most interesting thing I learned watching it is that the term "Godfather" wasn't really used in the mafia, Mario Puzo just used it as the title and main character of his book. After that, "Godfather" became synonymous with The Mafia. SneakyDave Posted September 22, 2022 Author Posted September 22, 2022 Lucinda Williams has a wide range of different music types, and some interesting lyrics. I heard the Robert Plant/Allison Krause version of this and was happy to hear that it was a Williams' song. It's a great song with a familiar message Robert Plant/Allison Krause version. Always weird to see Plant performing a bluegrass song Check out the maraca in the drummer's shoe Lucinda Williams, a better song writer than singer Quote "I wonder if wife Susie knows about the vile crap he posts on his site and how it fits in with her "youth ministry"?" - Dr. Howard Rosenzweig, former owner of TheAdminZone
