Gary has guest posting open on his site. The thing everyone is noticing is that 99.9.9.9% of the guest posters type exactly like Gary, yet Gary would lead us to believe it is not him.

I do have to admit.. the ignore feature can tend to impact a thread somewhat as it makes people sometimes look like they are just talking to themselves until you get to the bottom and see

Yep, have to look at the time stamps... if they are all within a few minutes of each other, odds are very high that it's Gary himself as I can pretty much assure you that he doesn't get enough traffic on his site to have multiple people posting within minutes of each other.

The other option is it could be one "real" user baiting him heavily, but if so, that's easy enough to figure out also.

I don't know how shitty phpbb works, if Gary's own guest posts get a timestamp of when they were submitted, or when Gary actually approves his own guest posts.

Think when I played with it, was when the item was submitted and not approved if I remember correctly. That's the way most of them will work.

I am almost certain that is the way it works, the posts get the time stamp from the submitted time, not the "moderated live" time.
