Fascinating how rebooting the server as part of installing a new component, which causes a planned outage of less than one minute, results in screenshots appearing everywhere.

 

I'm flattered that people are sat reading my little site all the time, they must be to notice something like this.

You get similar errors on other scripts when the HTTP service is running but mySQL is not responding.

I don't know if that site is back up or not as I haven't visited it since we agreed to ignore him/it.

Much handier to consider him persona non grata.

Yep that's basically how it works...http comes up first but for about twenty seconds MySQL hasn't started, hence database errors.

 

I then also have to manually start Sphinx via SSH, otherwise searches will throw errors (albeit different ones).

 

As it's a private hobby site, there's no replication or failover to another server....if we need to reboot, we just do. Quiet time, about a minute of downtime. It's pretty rare, Nimbus run a solid VPS service.
