SneakyDave Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 It always worries me a little when Mark.B goes missing for a little while, there's no telling what dumdum might have done to him. Mark may have been hit by Gary in his 1990 Geo Metro. He claims to be driving 200 miles on 1 hour sleep  Quote "I wonder if wife Susie knows about the vile crap he posts on his site and how it fits in with her "youth ministry"?" - Dr. Howard Rosenzweig, former owner of TheAdminZone
13511 Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 Mark may have been hit by Gary in his 1990 Geo Metro. He claims to be driving 200 miles on 1 hour sleep  He acts like 400 miles is a long trip. A day trip to one of our larger cities is 300 miles round trip easy - and we do frequently drive that in a day and then spend 6-8 hours there in the city goofing off. Heck, to drive across Texas takes about 14 hours (including stops) if using I-10. Quote
SneakyDave Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 (edited) I drive between Omaha and KC which is about 400 miles round trip for Chiefs games, at least 8 times in the fall. It's a pain, but manageable. Wouldn't do that on 1 hours sleep like Gary though, in his condition Edit: 412 Miles to be exact Edited July 19, 2017 by SneakyDave Quote "I wonder if wife Susie knows about the vile crap he posts on his site and how it fits in with her "youth ministry"?" - Dr. Howard Rosenzweig, former owner of TheAdminZone
13511 Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 Wouldn't do that on 1 hours sleep like Gary though, in his condition It's not that bad when you are younger... but as you get older it catches up to you. It does show a lack of maturity to do that for "work" on an hours sleep unless you have to (I'm thinking a time of natural disaster where you may be working 16 hours on/8 off - but even then you schedule at least 6 hours sleep. SneakyDave Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 A coupla White Crosses and Gary's good to go! Quote "I wonder if wife Susie knows about the vile crap he posts on his site and how it fits in with her "youth ministry"?" - Dr. Howard Rosenzweig, former owner of TheAdminZone
Paul Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 A coupla White Crosses and Gary's good to go! I bet Gary already has meth teeth. Quote
13511 Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017  No Gary, you make it sound like driving 400 miles round trip is a big deal... it may be for someone that doesn't drive often, but for many people that is a normal drive to take a day trip somewhere. Of course, you have to remember I live in a rather large state so your comments on the "high" mileage is actually comical for us.  Quote
13511 Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 Â Then you didn't take a power nap. Those are between 10-30 minutes (most concur that 10-20 is best). Any longer and you risk sleep inertia. And yes, I'm familiar with power naps as it was something that was taught in some of the disaster recover training sessions I've attended. Quote
13511 Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 Â Try quoting the entire post for context Gary. And do you not understand the meaning of taking a DAY trip. You normally don't take one of those in the middle of the night as most of the places are closed. You leave in time to arrive in the city around 9-10 am (which is a peak traffic time) and then plan on leaving out around 6-8pm (which again is normally a high traffic time). It's apparent that you don't do a lot of driving/traveling. Hell, I've been in traffic in Dallas that took you 2 hours to drive about 20 miles, so cry me a river about traffic. Quote
13511 Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017  Gary... please, holy mother of God, look up what most people call a day trip or being a day-tripper. A day-tripper is a person who visits a tourist destination or visitor attraction from his/her home and returns home on the same day. But I guess for you McDonalds is a visitor attraction or a tourist destination? I honestly got a feeling we have MORE amenities on the open road here in the states than you do. And what you did isn't a big deal.. shit, I drove to Dallas when my son called me to come pick him up when he sold his Mustang up there... and I had already been up for 17 hours then and that is a 3 1/2 hour round trip. You act like it's a big thing, and I guess for someone that spends most of their time in a residential environment it would be. I've even driven to Austin and back in a day a few times just to go by Bobalu's on 6th street because I wanted some of their hand rolled cigars. Oh, and that's 176 miles one way. Quote
13511 Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017  Only you could misunderstand someone so completely Gary. Here, let me spell it out for in simple terms. What you did is not excessive for many people, especially those of us that live in a large state in the US. And you make it seem like it was a "job" to do and the only reason to do it, and we do it for joy/pleasure - as do many people. Quote
13511 Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 So Gary, you are saying you purchased the motor home? Let's see your bill of sale. Oh, and the banjo was a little more than that... more like £613. And that banjo does belong to me. Hell, in that case my trip to San Antonio with my niece WAY outweighed your motor home. We went to look at houses and the one she and her husband settled on was around £3,686,352 - so by your argument, I win again. Quote
13511 Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 Oooohhh.. another edit to reply to  Simple Gary... I own the banjo, you don't own the vehicle that you went to provide transport for. :joy: Quote
13511 Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 (edited) And yes Gary, I can already play the opening licks for dueling banjo's on that instrument. Now if my picks would come in I could do it without as much impact on the fingers. What new thing have you taught yourself to do for self-improvement lately? Edited July 19, 2017 by 13511 Quote
13511 Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 Â Gary, when it gets to YOU buying it and not being a donkey transport for someone else's purchase, please get back with us. Quote
13511 Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017  And this definitely proves it's not your buying it... you don't have a pot to piss in amigo, so no way you are affording financing on $55K worth of RV. And honestly that's awfully low end price for a class C or A. Most newer ones go between 90K - 300K that I've looked at (yes, we've contemplated getting one and probably will when our furbaby numbers drop to 1-2). You must be picking up some 20 year old units - the ones I've seen in the 27K range were '98-99 models. Even the 2007 ones were in the $40K range. Class A's were similarly priced. Or are these those dinky class B ones? Even those 10 year old ones (2007 model) are around $35K. And no way in hell would most people buy a more than 10 year old RV based on a light truck chasis. These are retail prices of course.... but generally private sell prices are not but a few thousand below retail price. 1 Quote
13511 Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 Sorry Gary.. your video is blocked by the proxy service. Quote
13511 Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 No hot under the collar to it... just find it amusing you are bragging about spending other peoples money... of course, folks that don't have money typically like to brag about spending other peoples money. And I see you do not refute the fact that you aren't the purchaser of the items in question, only the delivery boy. Hope they stopped off to get you some KFC Zingers. I had to actually look up what a Zinger was since I don't eat at KFC... no thanks, I prefer the chicken sandwiches from Chik-fil-A. That's got to be a really regular job... what is this, 3 times in about 6 months? Really building up that retirement account at that rate!!! Quote
13511 Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 Â Gary, only in your world would someone be jealous/envious of you. The opposite is usually true, you are so jealous of others that it gets you into a rage. :emoji_laughing: Hell, I've gone many a time to help people pick up equipment that was WAY more valuable than those little motor homes you are talking about... think a D-10 Cat (even a late 90's model goes for near $125,000+) Bobcats (in the $30K used range) and similar... and I don't charge them to do it (which I'm pretty sure you are getting funded to provide the "service" you do). I do it because they are friends of mine. And as you would be able to tell, I haven't "bragged" about doing any of this until replying to your post, as I don't really consider it something to "brag" about as it's what friends do for each other - but odds are the person you are assisting is not a friend but an individual that you have a "business" arrangement with. 13511 Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 Now it's time for me to go take a 2 hour "power" nap. Quote

13511 Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017  Gary, I do it specifically because it's readily apparent it irritates you to no end that folks can afford to have expensive hobbies and be retired and you, being near the same age, are not in that position due to poor planning (and I'm being generous here) on your part. And as for posts on sites other than here - I've developed some good contacts with folks that are also interested in the same interests due to those "bragging" posts. 13511 Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 (edited) Â Oooohh. and yet another edit to reply to. Gary.... only on Bash do I "harp" on it.. and I'll give you one guess why. And it involves you. The discussion on TAZ (which you are apparently banned from) has no discussion of price other than the jokingly posting an image of an almost $80,000 guitar that I used to convince the wife that what I had bought wasn't expensive. :p The only discussion involving cost is here and that's because I like the color green. That's one of the benefits of working in law enforcement, corrections and IT as long as I did. I learned to suffer the foolish/ignorant very early on. Quote
