SneakyDave Posted June 11, 2017 Posted June 11, 2017 Gary said this, in response to Tracy Perry explaining why Gary gets bitch slapped continuously... Tracy:Actually, when you start calling someones kid retarded and making comments about their wife - expecting to not start getting bitch slapped is a little stoopid. Gary: What you talking about now stoopid. Nobody has called anyone's kids retarded. Well, apart from you lot on Bash calling GTB's ex wife and daughter. Or did you forget about how many times you keep bringing his family up, especially Paul Ket. Go back to playing at being a policeman sticking some flashing lights on your tandem bike. 13511 Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 It must really be a bitch to have a host and a script that doesn't allow the use of a major feature of all forum scripts...the ability to quote. And Gary, I don't doubt that a few from here go over there to stir the pot as your "guest" posters... the difference is I don't really give two shits, much less a singular one. Quote
13511 Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 (edited) Did Gary get confused as to which account he was posting under? Or is he talking about himself in the 3rd party? Or is he in some way referring to the "guest' post as "you"? With the standard Gary gibberish, it's rather hard to translate this early in the morning. Guess I'll go play some BF1 and kill something. Edited June 12, 2017 by 13511 Quote
SneakyDave Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 ..the ability to quote. Actually, it's worse than that. It isn't the ability to quote as a guest poster, but to use quotation marks. 13511 Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 The only free work Tracy Perry does for people is for Tim over at The Jack Army and a few local offices/clinics around town. As for others on the interwebz - nope, I've stopped doing free stuff for people. Quote

If it works fine on a default account... then it is some of those cPanel tweaks he's done that he has no clue what are most likely. Or he's modified his script with his most excellent coding skillz. 13511 Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 (edited) Gary.. did you not fully read the post? since I helped Tim out with his site and they monitor for multiple accounts from the same IP. I thought that was very clear. I help Tim (The Jack Army) out and have to use his account to access his related data to manage the SSL's. NameCheap monitors for single IP accessing multiple accounts and then performs a lock on the accounts. Odds are Tim's account has the same issue. And I don't use WAMP. If I need to set up a local environment, I set up either a VM running a Linux loadout (CentOS or Debian) or I'll grab one of my spare machines to churn out a setup. The WAMP screenshot looks like something that is generated by that install and not a real PHP info page (which is very simple to create and access to get the true PHP info without any outside program intervention that a panel access of the info may add). 13511 Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 OK... got the 9.98 account purchased and am in the process of uploading the files for phpBB 3.1 to it. Once they are uploaded I'll start the setup process - already have a DB and user created. 1 Quote
13511 Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 OK.. base install on NameCheap (no changes to the cPanel settings) and no changes to Apache/PHP result in the same issue that Gary has over at his site. Granted I haven't done much of anything to it other than allow guest posting real quick (about to go to Outback in Tyler to eat supper). So, until further testing I have to agree with Gary it's a NameCheap issue. yourdomain.com - Index page Quote
13511 Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 What's taking me so long Gary is I'm not running it on that primary domain (it's used for something else) and had to create a sub-domain to utilize. Quote
Sandyman Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 What's funny is that he knew it was NameCheap causing the problem all along, yet #dumdum the desk weasel bought a new hosting package (supposedly) from NAMECHEAP to run his new domain and phpBB on, knowing it wasn't working. Gary Thomas Bolton: Namecheap is the causing problems with phpBB, they suck, support sucks, I'll never host with them again, I'll take site down before I run site that doesn't work as proper, rage, scream, spit, rage, rage, rage... Gary Thomas Bolton: Hey Guys, I have a new domain, running on new shared hosting at Namecheap, quoting doesn't work though. Priceless... 13511 Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 Once we get back I'll set up another test bed for myBB to see if it has the same issues.... if so, then odds are it's going to to be a NameCheap issue - otherwise it's a coding issue with phpBB most likely. Quote
13511 Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 Gary, it still doesn't preclude a coding issue between them. Odds are there are issues on both parties. A lot depends on what NameCheap is using to lock the systems down, and it also depends on whether phpBB is using what they would class as unsafe calls. Quote
13511 Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 Think Gary... the OS typically gets upgraded... as do other packages used by the OS. If there are some shoddy coding lines in phpBB for the guest posting, they could easily be causing issues. You have to remember, you aren't talking professional coders that do a bunch of the free script stuff. Many are just hobbyist. I'm honestly not going to spend a lot of time chasing the issue down as I have absolutely NO plans on ever using phpBB for anything. Quote

13511 Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 Gary, you do realize the the code base for mySQL, Percona and MariaDB all derive from the same line, correct? So, if they are using a newer version of MariaDB, odds are they are also using a newer version of MySQL - and if it's a base code deprecation issue then guess what - it will be present in all 3 most likely.
