SneakyDave Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 I hate Katie Couric, never liked here, she seems a little too snarky and fake to me. And obviously, this type of tihng goes on with all news programs, so I'm not sure why this Fox News guy is all acting self righteous about this, but I thought it was pretty interesting. Do news programs think that nobody will realize these obvious edits, or do they think nobody will ever hear the unedited audio? View: http://video.foxnews.com/v/4921215574001 Transcript: Last week, we told you about an anti-gun documentary that was edited so pro-gun citizens seemed stumped by Katie's Couric questions on background checks. It was done to make her look smart and them dumb: (BEGIN VIDEO CLIP) KATIE COURIC, JOURNALIST: If there are no background checks for gun purchasers, how do you prevent felons or terrorists from purchasing a gun? (SILENCE) (END VIDEO CLIP) Amazing. But then uncut audio revealed that the guests weren't so dumb after all: (BEGIN VIDEO CLIP) COURIC: How do you prevent felons or terrorists from walking into, say, a licensed gun dealer and purchasing a gun? VA CITIZENS DEFENSE LEAGUE MEMBER 1: Well, one, if you're not in jail, you should still have your basic rights. And you've done your time, you should... COURIC: So if you're a terrorist or a felon? VA CITIZENS DEFENSE LEAGUE MEMBER 1: If you're a felon and you've done time, you should have your rights. VA CITIZENS DEFENSE LEAGUE MEMBER 2: The fact is we do have statutes, both at the federal and state level that prohibit classes of people from being in possession of firearms. Gutfeld: Why did Katie Couric come clean? Paul Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 Maybe they were trying to keep the VA Citizens Defense League member from being embarrassed? VA CITIZENS DEFENSE LEAGUE MEMBER 1: If you're a felon and you've done time, you should have your rights. WTF?! So if you've been convicted of domestic violence, rape, armed robbery or of shooting someone one just for the hell of it, you should be able to own a gun as long as you have done your time? Ban them all. 1 Quote
SneakyDave Posted June 9, 2016 Author Posted June 9, 2016 I agree that felons shouldn't own guns. I agree that background checks are necessary. This is more about how this news story was presented. It isn't meant to educate anybody. Does anybody really think the gun supporters have never heard this question before, that they'd be mind blown by it? 13511 Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 WTF?! So if you've been convicted of domestic violence, rape, armed robbery or of shooting someone one just for the hell of it, you should be able to own a gun as long as you have done your time? Ban them all. So, you push your wife/spank your child , you get convicted of a class c/b/a misdemeanor (no more than 1 year possible in jail) and you have a life-time ban for a misdemeanor? And don't say it "doesn't happen" - because I've seen it several times with some friends. Son/daughter get a spanking, CPS steps in and then they are in court over "child abuse" because no child should be spanked any longer, just given time-outs otherwise it's a form of abuse - which can result in a "family violence" tag on it. OK - I can deal with that. So, by the same token, if you get a conviction for public intoxication or DWI then you should get a lifetime ban on being able to have a drivers license and be subject to an automatic 10 year sentence in the pen if caught being in possession of a motor vehicle (that can be simply sitting in one at a curb as a passenger by yourself) since so many intoxicated persons kill so many people while driving. I like what Clarence Thomas asked in a recent hearing on a case before them. 1 Quote

Paul Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 The DWI laws in our country are a joke too, they give people the idea that they can drink a little and then drive. The maximum blood alcohol level while driving should be 0. Quote

Paul Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 I thought everyone in Florida owned a gun to keep things like this from happening? 13511 Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 They probably didn't have one that would match their outfits. And if they are like most states, you can't carry one in legally where liquor is served even if you have a concealed carry license. Also sounds like the officer that "exchanged gunfire" needs to go back and practice some more. Quote

SneakyDave Posted June 12, 2016 Author Posted June 12, 2016 Well, it's Florida. He had 2 licenses, but neither of them are required in Florida to have a firearm. Maybe some ISIS buddies gave him the gun(s) Too bad nobody had a gun or pressure cooker in there to take the guy Quote "I wonder if wife Susie knows about the vile crap he posts on his site and how it fits in with her "youth ministry"?" - Dr. Howard Rosenzweig, former owner of TheAdminZone
