Oooh, the whole "ignore function" is a great topic. It's hardly used by anybody, and even when mods tell people to use it, they don't. Even if you are able to FORCE ignore on a couple of people, they'll work to get around it.

I personally think it's useless. The only way to make it better is to extend it to work like Facebook's "block" function.

For this site too, it's worthless. I'll disable it, or make it unavailable. Take a break if somebody is getting on your nerves.

Who's actually used it? Was it worth really having? I think it's more trouble than it's worth because it prods you into peeking at what your ignored members are saying. A really poor implementation. I'm not sure if any "forum board" has done it correctly.

I make no bones about it. I ignored you on TAZ and I was the one that asked about the ignore feature on Gary's site because I wanted to ignore you there. I haven't ignored you here although I reserve the right to do so in the future.

I used to own a site that was raunchy and not for the thin skinned. I recommended that people use the ignore feature if offended. It was the single most used function of the site and made threads flow without people taking them off topic by arguing over a disagreement. It also made my life easier because I didn't have to read hundreds of emails or PM's from users telling me how so and so should be banned and hurt their feelings.

If I don't want to read what a person posts I reserve the right to ignore that user. If you don't have the feature enabled I leave.

I had planned to remove it due to its seemingly worthlessness, but the fact that chickenscratches admits that the feature defeats his trolling effectiveness, I'll probably keep it.

The needs of the many outweigh the wants of a few, or whatever they say

What are you? GTB?

Did you just get swayed by a couple of words from Cocked?

Since when did his opinion shapes the character of this place?

What is this forum suppose to be?

Boring place for goody goody two shoes?

How did this place came to be?

For God's sake, it's BASH.ZONE not pussies.zone!

You're quite a self entitled prick.

Since when did you think you have this imaginary rights?

Do not assume this place is the same as yours.

Ehhh... most people that interact with chickenscratches consider the person they are dealing with and then just lower themselves down to a 10 year old level and play the game. It's easy enough to ignore him without using an ignore function (which I did for quite a while over at TAZ) - or shove factual responses in his face.

I'm not disabling the ignore function. I don't think you can play the misunderstood victim very well if you get everything you ask for.

:p

When I was on dumdumcom, my dream is to create a forum where the beautiful minds can congregate. Needless to say, GTB disagreed with my vision and somehow along the way I ended up here. The presence of the ignore function contradict the sort of environment that I want where the beautiful minds engage each other instead of ignoring one another. I do not count anyone who feel the need of the function as these beautiful minds, they are nothing more but your boring everyday forum members nor I am dying to be associated with them. If it's boring forum I'm looking for, it's dime a dozen out there. Oh well, I suppose all good things must have an end.

John Lennon once said 'Imagine there's no ignore function' I think. Can't the world be a beautiful place if people have choices?

It sounds like your Utopia is a state run government, lol

さようなら

You could always put your money where your mouth is and make your own forum.

Edit

If it's an uncensored forum you're wanting, I'm sure Sir Adam Howard would help you make one. :joy:

I'm not sure chickenscratches really wants his own forum. I offered to let him have thevicezone without any restrictions, but maybe he wasn't quite ready for the responsibility yet.

He wants a forum where visitors can't ignore him. Like those ads you can't skip on YouTube.

Translation of さようなら is "goodbye". Hopefully it's just a farewell. Come back soon Chickenscratches.

I thought it meant "letting the door hit ya where the good lord split ya because I like the knob hitting me in the face"?

I agree with Chickenscratches, a forum with "bash" in the title shouldn't have an ignore feature. If it has to have an ignore feature, then it might be a good idea to have an ignored list. The ignored list could show who is being ignored and by whom, Chickenscratches could wear being the most ignored member as a badge of honor.

Is this Bash Zone's first flounce?

If you want to run a proper troll forum, it will be the first of many.

Luckily, most flouncers later return, though not all.

I originally didn't think of a BASH zone would be used as a place to pile on members it's own site, just external sites, lol. I was searching for a "public ignore list" addon, but couldn't find anything. I'll play around with it a bit once I get the WBB/GTB Ban List bugs to.

If he has left good riddance. No great loss.

So that means you'll post more?

I like reading the things you have to say. Pretty much all here. Not sure why more don't post their ramblings.... I certainly don't hesitate. Hahahah.
