I've heard several friends kids bitching about how hard it is to make money at 12-16 and how they can't "get a job". Shit, growing up at that age, for my money I mowed local yards with several other neighborhood kids (we had a group that did it). We each had an area that we agreed we were responsible for and helped cover off for other kids areas when their parents took them on vacation or if they couldn't get to it on the day due for some reason (sick, school function, etc). The mowing also included edging the curb (if present) and also the driveway/sidewalk and using the weed eater around trees/fences. We used to charge between $5-$7 for a normal yard (normal in this area being around 1/2 acre). Now that would correspond to $20-$30. Good luck on getting any kid wanting to it for that price (providing their own equipment is part/parcel of the deal). I had a few come by asking (in their latter teens) if I wanted my yard mowed and when I asked them how much the cheapest was $45 and ONLY included mowing. If I wanted it edged and trimmed then it was another $25. Told him that for $70 I'd do it myself and look at it as the exercise that I needed to do anyway. Edited March 27, 2018 by 13511 1 Quote
