SneakyDave Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 IPB was vBulletin only serious contender in the forum world, and had a lot of site's using it in the past. Lately, it seems there's been an admin pile on against using it. So what's wrong with it? Price changes? Slow Development? Customer Service issues? Promised features that never materialized? It seemed to be on the cusp of taking over the forum world, and then a couple of years after XenForo's arrival, it looks like things are in disarray with it. 13511 Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 One of my biggest complaints is the lack of criteria for promotions. You can only do # of content (not posts, but ALL content) or days of membership. To do any more, you have to purchase an add-on. The editor was horrible for a while... I haven't been back to their site lately to see if they fixed the quote edit process or not (and haven't even logged into my Apple site to check there either). There templating system sucks with no history or merge capability (amazing how when you get used to that you miss it). I'm not really in their "target demographic" as I expect more control from a script than what they allow. Quote

Yeah, XenForo users are pretty spoiled on that. I think it's the only system that has such a feautre. The editor was horrible for a while... WBB's editor gives me fits with copying and pasting things, and don't get me started on quotes, but it isn't too bad. Digital Phoenix Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 Does it use CKE, Redactor, or ??? Not a hundred percent sure but I think they took redactor and butchered it. Quote
13511 Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 Does it use CKE, Redactor, or ??? Native CKEditor.. you can even download plugins from the CKE site and use them. WBB's editor gives me fits with copying and pasting things, and don't get me started on quotes, but it isn't too bad. I've gotten somewhat used to it. It's Redactor, but not modified like XenForo uses. It does have some quirks that I had to get used to, but I like it much more than IPS. Quote
