1. Thanks! It's in really good shape when you consider it's 21 years old. Has a few dents & dings and a few places starting to show some rust (from doors impacts on the side it looks like). We use it strictly for hauling stuff. Last year we put a whole 1800 miles on it. I go out and start it every now and then to just let the engine run and sometimes drive it for 10-15 miles. When I first saw it I really liked the color and didn't even glance at the price. Think we paid around 27K for it brand new. The diesel added a LOT to the price (it was a $9000+ option). We got a good deal on it because at the time the wife was in her "trade a vehicle in on a new one each year" mode. :D I tend to keep my vehicles (that I drive) for a long time.
2. Here you go Gary... just for you
3. Oh, and it really shows how perceptive Gary is. As I've said, I'm about 5'11 (nowhere near 6'4") and 180lbs (which would be around 12.8 stone). Guess he was wishing the former was his actual height and that the latter being his actual weight.
4. Oh, and I don't think Gary want's to get into a discussion (vehicle) in reference to 4WD with a country boy that has LIVED the 4WD life for most of his life.
5. NWS has now raised the number of confirmed tornados in the outbreak to 9... Jeez... I knew it had gotten bad up there, but 9 in that short of a time period on the ground.... that's some heavy duty activity.
6. Exactly... it took 30'ish years of working (and planning) to get to where I could retire (same with my spouse once we were married). We live VERY comfortably and can afford toys. There are always jobs out there that can be done by people - it's just that many are either to lazy to do them or "it doesn't pay what they (think they) are worth".
7. Hell, none of the new ones come with "4 wheel drive" as us country boys think of real 4WD. They DO come with dynamic torque control all wheel drive, which is something entirely different than REAL 4 wheel drive. The dynamic all wheel drive is more for roadway traction... it would never hold up to what a real 4WD is used for. Give me a 4WD with old fashioned lockers on the front wheel. More hassle to deal with, but they typically held up better than the newer stuff does.
8. Oh, and Gary.... try "jumping in front of a cell phone camera" to sit in a car with the phone/camera far enough back to get an encompassing picture without someone to hold it. Unless you are a practicing Wiccan and can levitate objects it's hard to do. And it's not worth the time to dig out the old Canon digital camera and the tripod (of which I honestly don't remember where they are - I need to find that camera though).
9. Oh, and I loved his "what is required".... I think what he was trying to say is "requested"... but apparently he doesn't know the difference. I can see where that can cause a relationship problem with others. And apparently he doesn't know THAT much about cars.. hell, the RAV4 is a FWD vehicle.. NOT a 4WD vehicle. The 4Runner would come closest - but I couldn't convince the wife to get the TRO as she knew that I'd be taking it off-road and "scratching" up her ride. And the original comment was about having vehicles (1 or more).... don't know where he drug a "has to be a brand new $100K plus vehicle" in from that he apparently changed to (as that's where I start classifying the "expensive" cars to be placed at. Hell, I'd most likely have gotten an Alfa 4c Spider, but I won't buy anything that I have to drive more than 10 miles to take to an official service center. If I was still living in the metromess (DFW) there would have been no hesitation.
10. And the boyo doesn't know that the Fiat 124 Spider is a 2017 model (this is the FIRST year of it) and even if you did find them "second hand" you wouldn't pay much less than "first hand". And no, it's not a 70K car, but simply a nice fun 33K one. And the RAV4 was a 2016 (few people get rid of a car to make a 2016 a "second hand car" that quickly). My wife has a tendency to want a new vehicle every other year or so and the 4Runner is a 5th Gen 2017 that she decided she liked better than the RAV4 (bigger engine for passing, but less fuel economy). yep... and that is what made me pretty sure his "guest" posts were from him... as it would time out whenever I was trying to reply over there.
11. NWS confirmed 7 separate tornados during the system that went through that area. I don't remember that many during one cell in that small of an area around here as far back as I paid attention to that kind of stuff.
12. Another video of the large one.. this one is not a youtube. At the closest point this chaser was about 200 yards away from it reportedly. Up to 5 confirmed dead now. https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10155328389509169 View: https://www.facebook.com/reedtimmerAccu/videos/10155328389509169/
13. Well, we lucked out on the first line of storms... the one that went through here fell in on itself so nothing bad, but once they moved east they started blowing up again.
14. One confirmed death so far.
15. These are some videos from a city about 45 miles north of us. Canton has been hit hard apparently. They are reporting another rotational system moving towards them and if it develops into a tornado that will be 4 for the day. Our local city has sent its mass casualty ambulance up there (can deal with up to 20 patients at one time) up there as a result of mutual aid.

Drugs

Don't get me wrong, mesquite has it's place. Take it and get it down to coals and it's the best for grilling fajitas with.

Drugs

Nope, I personally prefer apple, cherry or pecan. They provide a sweeter, less harsh smoke.

They aren't REAL ribs unless they come from a mighty porky pig!!!! :yum

Drugs

I actually need to take 2 butts out of the freezer tonight to do Friday. Guess I'll have to snap some photos of them!!

Drugs

That's one of my big issues with it. I do like a nice tequila sunrise when out eating Mexican food - as long as I'm not the vehicle driver - or a Shiner Blonde when out smoking some meat on the pit (that's the only beer I've ever found the taste decent, and it's not much hops flavor to it). I mainly use wines/beers for cooking. Always have a 6 pack of decent dark beer in the fridge for when I do any beer butt chickens or the briskets/pulled pork. Picked up a 6 pack of Shiner Strawberry Blonde.... kinda unique as it has a strawberry flavor to the Blonde beer I normally would drink - but not something I'd want to drink often. Trying to figure out what I could use it with to cook that the strawberry flavor might enhance.

Drugs

Some folks ARE actually "jolly" drunks - but WAY to many think that they are exempt from any social graces. :scream:

Drugs

Exactly that... the social interaction is not "bad" from doing it but as you stated it's when it goes beyond the social limits that the issue devolves into problems. Hell, you'll find that I was an anachronism as an LEO from the 80's. I never used illicit substances but was fully behind the legalization of marijuana then (and still am). I've had WAY fewer issues in my career with potheads than I have those drunk on the spirit of the grape/grain. Now, the harder drugs have more impact (negative) on interactions. PCP and "speed" were the two worst.

Drugs

Actually the consumption is not the artificial prop... the over consumption is (which gets the "buzz" on) - or the feeling that you "need" it to deal with reality. With drugs, you also do them until you get similar effects of over-indulgence of the liquid spirits. Drinking a glass or two (say of wine) because you like the flavor it has is not the same as puffing a blunt or two to get your "buzz on". It's the over-indulgence that is the problem. With most drugs you are taking them for the effect they cause on you. The same can be said about alcohol that is being drank by itself. I've never talked to with anyone who liked the "taste" of marijuana or the "smell" of coke as the snorted it up their nose or the feel of the needle sliding in as they injected their liquid of choice - it was always the results of performing the action that was important to them. I'm 53 and have never done illicit drugs (nor abused prescription ones) in my life. I've been "drunk" about 4-5 times, and never when I was in public (private party or at home). Personally never had a desire to let something else take control of me. Addiction (specifically to alcohol) apparently runs in my family as my grandfather (dad's side) was an alcoholic, my dad was an alcoholic and my 2 brothers and sister were alcoholics (in fact, one still is even though it is killing her due to medical complications).
25. No, actually I think the prison food/care/residents caught up to him. He was (at the time he shot is common-law wife) an active correctional officer. Doesn't bode well when one was a CO like he was and then end up in the same penitentiary system you had been so abusive in.
