1. Actually he's one of the ones that really got me interested in astronomy. I've probably got around $8K of astronomy related equipment here at the house, and that's only in 2 telescopes. A 103mm Williams Optics and then an 8" Celstron NexStar. I REALLY need to learn how to use the camera, the filter wheel and the software with my Surface Book that I use to interface with it. It seems that every time I want to go out when the conditions are right something crops up that interferes with it (usually clinic related where I do free IT work). Although that "free" work did recently score me an iPhone 13 Pro Max 1TB cell phone.
2. Any mask's primary duty is to stop the carrier of either bacteria or virus. Think about it. If you you have a bacterial infector or virus, in which case you are you more likely to spread it. When wearing a mask that blocks a large portion of the carrier material or when not not wearing a mask that allows the carrier material be freely broadcast from your mouth/nose with no intervening material in place. People like Sheldon like to decry that it "doesn't stop all of the virus". Guess what.. it was never designed to. That's what the term mitigation refers to. It's apparently a word that is outside their lexicon. Kinda like wearing body armor as a Police Officer. The body armor doesn't stop all the bullets you may be struck with, but it stops most of those in vital areas. You see, the cry that Sheldon uses would be the same as one used if someone was struck in the head by a round and the ballistic vest didn't "save" them.
3. Mitigation of the spread of the carrier is consistent between any of the virus derivatives. It's not "variant' specific. There are already numerous studies out there that you are free to reference to that point.
4. I'm recently into the astronomy field and its really exciting to think wha new information it will bring.
5. For the James Webb telescope reaching its final position and becoming operational. It should open MANY more doors to our universe to us.
6. And what would a 70's flashback be without the ever present ABBA! And yes, I'll admit I had the hots for Agnetha. She was definitely a bangable babe.
7. I still think her death was a loss to the music world. Yes, their songs were sappy but they put you in a good mood.
8. And now let's flash to 197o, an iconic song (another 70's flashback). And yes, I REALLY miss the REAL music from this era. Sometimes I wish I could go back in time to relive my life knowing what I know now. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dq1z1rkjw-E View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dq1z1rkjw-E
9. And in honor of Meatloaf, and one of the MOST classic movies ever!!!!!!
10. And now we flash back to the latter 70's (you'd never hear music like this now from a white group). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=I_2D8Eo15wE;list=RDwvUQcnfwUUM
11. Yeah, Im beginning to feel like a REALLy old shit. Listened to this when in my single digits as my sister and brother were a decade older. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=m2fPkzJsMU8;list=RDwvUQcnfwUUM View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m2fPkzJsMU8&list=RDwvUQcnfwUUM&index=2
12. For us old shits... a flashback to the 70's https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=wvUQcnfwUUM;list=RDwvUQcnfwUUM
13. Never liked Kook-Aid. And can you show me where I've stated it stops the virus? You see, I'm very careful whenI specifically state it mitigates the carrier of the virus. You fixate on "It doesn't stop the virus... it doesn't stop the virus". And I agree, most masks don't stop the virus but mitigate the dispersal of the material that carries the virus, which is what they are designed to do. You want to stop the virus from impacting you, wear MOPP gear. :emoji_biohazard: Your attitude is like "I'm not going to wear a raincoat in the rain because it doesn't stop the rain, my feet, hands and head get wet". You see, that raincoat mitigates the rain on the rest of your body.
14. Ahh, but that's the point of anecdotal statement. So, you posit that a barrier between ones mount/nose does not mitigate the broadcasting of the carrier material? Guess all PPE needs to be done away with then. And I'll go with the science that SHOWS that the masks DO (even cloth masks) mitigate the spread of the carrier material. And yes, the example of a diaper is a valid one. What happens when you let a child run around with no diaper on and they defecate? Then compare that to what happens when the child runs around with a diaper and defecates. The spread of the feces is mitigated by the diaper. Here, since you like graphics, is a visual explanation. :p
15. Once more, I know you are aware of what the term mitigates means.... .and it's not the same as eliminates. I realize they both end it ates but they do remain two distinct and separate words. And I've read reports where masked and vaccinated people have gathered together and nobody caught COVID-19. Anecdotal evidence means nothing as you are well aware. The fact remains, masks mitigate the dispersion of the carrier of the virus, and that has been proven. And yes, diapers are a perfectly valid example. No diaper and your urine will spray everywhere. Diaper and your urine is now confined to a smaller area. Or if you want a more graphic comparison, think of sneeze and the mask then think of an explosive bout of diarrhea and a diaper. They both serve the dame purpose, They confine the expulsion of material to a smaller area than if unconfined.
16. You haven't seen me say it stops the virus. In fact, the virus has to have a carrier to move about. And you clearly saw that I said it mitigates said carrier. And I know that you are intelligent enough to know what mitigation is. You put a barrier between your nose/mouth and others, and it mitigates the carrier. You put a barrier between your penis/vagina and the world it mitigates the spread of urine. The base theory is the same. You see, those devilish little virus don't just sneak out of ones mouth/nose and then go swimming through the air on their own.
17. Think of it as a diaper. It doesn't keep anyone from pissing on your, but it mitigates you pissing on someone else. If everyone was wearing them, then nobody would be pissing on the other person.
18. That's not really what they said. They were basically addressing two issues.
19. Well, not fully. Any business that receives Medicare/Medicaid funds (mainly medical related) are still subject to them. The OSHA requirement was an over-reach by the Biden administration and with 6 of the last 9 attempts to use the process they were trying to avail themselves of being overturned as improper, it was no surprise to me. I've said since they started trying to do it that they were grasping at straws based upon historical trends.
20. No, we are... We are LEGION!
21. And yet one more that thinks the masks purpose it to prevent the caching of COVID-19. Simply put, it's to lower the risk of transmitting it by broadcasting your nasal and oral expulsions.
22. Personally don't use cloth masks. I use either an N95 or a surgical.
23. Masks are designed to stop carrier particulate. Argue the matter all you want, but the fact remains just that. They stop carrier material from the mouth and nose that can contain a viral or bacterial load.
24. You ever see those little blue masks... you know, the same ones they wear in surgery? And the same ones you can buy at WalMart or any other store? N95 masks are not used by surgeons in most cases. They use a simple mask like these. If you know anything about an N-95 mask you know that that is NOT what these are. If they aren't effective, why are they widely used bu surgeons and medical personnel? Why don't they simply go without masks since they do no good? Now, as to your position on cloth masks.. agreed, they are not as effective, but they DO still stop the carrier material spray moreso than not wearing one does. You see, those pesky little virus's don't simply float around in the air on their own... they have to have a carrier material to spread.
