As best I can tell, I was banned due to complaints for the Church of Xenforology regarding my non-compliant posts....I had become very forthright in challenging people's lies about vBulletin (and, indeed, other software...I recall on several occasions calling people out over lies told about both XenForo itself, and also Invision Power Board). The bulk of it was vBulletin stuff though. Lies are lies, and I will always call them out, or challenge people to prove what they say if I have any doubts. What started to happen was that my posts calling out these lies, or pointing out foul abuse aimed at me, started to get removed. Not all of them, but some of them. Then I got 'threadbanned' from one of my own threads, meaning I couldn't respond while the staff allowed insults and lies to be told about me. Which, in itself, I don't actually care about too much, but I'll be blowed if I'll just let people get away with it unchallenged. Then there was a bit of a relent, my 'threadban' got lifted, and things seemed to calm down somewhat. Then one day I logged in to be greeted with a ban message. I contacted Lisa, not to challenge the ban, as by then it was too late - ban me and I'm gone for good - however she did agree to remove my stickies, since I rightly said I wasn't prepared to let them use my help 'articles' (they were just ordinary posts stickied) if they didn't want me on the site. I believe they removed them, or at least unstickied them, but again I didn't care enough to follow it up. I think at one point I had a redirect set on my vB5 demo site, which only affected users coming from the links to it in TAZ threads. It redirected people back to TAZ. However, I removed that after a day or so, since it only really punished ordinary readers of TAZ, who I mostly had no issue with. Over the years TAZ has either banned or driven away, staff from most of the major software platforms. There used to be loads from vBulletin, now there's just Joe and Paul. I think Invision had a rep there last time I looked (which was months ago), and WBB might have had someone there, but other than that, it's a desert. A shame but that's clearly the type of site they want.

Who told you that? It's complete rubbish. I turned up one day and my account was banned. What I *have* said, is that after they banned me, I will never, ever return, no matter what the circumstances. I'm quite sure they don't want me to return, so that's all ok. There are other, better admin forums out there. THough frankly, I'm bored with the whole 'admin niche' now.

I initially read this thread title as 'punchable fences', so I popped out to see if I could find any. Now I've got a sore fist for no reason.

Well I'm banned from both XenForo and TAZ. I think it's a fairly small and elite club that managed to upset both those sites.

Don't think GTB ever called me an alcoholic to my knowledge....I don't drink so it'd be a pretty daft accusation to make.

Scott's obsession with vBulletin has always tickled me. Every time he complains about something - eg slow development, not making annuncements about staff changes, no public roadmap - Joe is always there to point out that Skooppa has achieved precisely zero in what is now many years. Skoopa is, and always will be, vapourware. Whatever anyone thinks about vBulletin, (or any of the main forum products such as IPB, XenForo or WBB), they ALL have a workable product that they have put out of the door and which is available to buy. Skooppa hasn't even produced so much as a concept screenshot or mockup. Now, don't get me wrong - I wish Scott well with the project and hope he turns up with something and it's awesome. I like his aims and goals. But it's a bit rich for him to complain about vBulletin so much when there is total silence from him on Skooppa's progress and when they might have anything - even just a mockup - to show people.

I've been reading back through my posts on here, and I'm now convinced the 'Mark.B' account isn't actually me. For starters, I haven't mentioned vBulletin once. Or anything about XenForo, or being 'morally bankrupt' etc. Not terribly convincing, whoever it is.

I thought it might be interesting to have a sort of unofficial 'log' of any forums everyone is banned from. I am (as far as I know) banned from the following: TAZ Admin Talk XenForo I don't think there are any others.

There was this period, a good few years ago now....GTB owned the domain mrgtb.com. His username back then was always MrGTB you see. He would have a forum on there, then after a few days he'd delete it and it would be a blog. Then after a few days it would be back to a forum again, only on a different platform. Then back to a blog, but again on a different platform. When it was a blog, he used to claim that 'MRGTB' was actually an acronym for 'Movie Reviews - Getting The Blockbusters', or 'Miscellaneous Ramblings General Talk Blog', 'Miscellaneous Resource Graphics Talk Blog' and one or two variations on those, as the blogs were supposed to be about movies and not forum admin stuff. He was literally swapping them about daily at one point, before eventuially announcing he was quitting the forum game entirely, he then sold the domain to someone who didn't ever do anything with it. For a while he was then on ProBoards, using a ProBoards domain, before buting the general-discussion domain he has now. Nice potted history there! Posting rows of smileys doesn't seem very like him, nor does the swearing. Although he does appear to confirm it's him in his own shoutbox: GTB 2 hours ago "I see David can only avoid answering me on his forum. Hmmm, wants to leave it others answering me instead. What a wuss!"

Hmmm ok....unexpected....I'm guessing this may be due to strangely banning all his active posters.....which, long before I joined that exclusive list, I said was a mistake. All those people - including some former adversaries - are now here instead, including Gary himself. What Gary seems to have achieved, is to transfer every shred of activity, include his own postings, from his site to this one. I'm trying to be as polite as I can about this, but it has to be said that's a bit of a fail.

Is this really Gary? The postings actually seem out of character. If it is him, he seems to have disliked every post I've made...which to be fair, isn't actually all that many, but the point stands.

I'm genuinely quite surprised he turned on me in the end, since I'd been generally supportive of him despite everything that was going on. I think he gets frustrated when he sees people not posting on his site for a few days, but posting elsewhere.

Yes, sadly that's the way it's always been with Gary. I have tried to support him, he did have his forum at a point where it was gaining traction a couple of months ago, but then he went on a banning spree for no perceptible reason, which has spoiled it all. The resultant plummet in activity then gets him angry and frustrated, and it seems to be a downward spiral from there. He also has form for making ludicrous allegations against people. Porn spam? Anyone who knows me would know that is the LEAST likely thing I would ever do. I don't do 'revenge' nonsense anyway, I leave that to 12 year olds. I hope he sorts himself out, I do feel a bit sorry for him at times but he does himself no favours. He must know though, from stuff I've posted on his own forum in the past, that now he has banned me I will not return under any circumstances.

I completely agree, I condemn such behaviour, but that doesn't excuse taking someone like me, who actually stood by and supported him, and making disgusting false allegations against me.

I have no interest in trolling Gary, and if someone HAS attacked his site by posting unsavoury videos or links then I condemn that. I can't and won't accept the false accusations he has levelled at me, and I am aware he has made similar allegations against other people.
